Today's session with Mechanical Bride

photos from the Mechanical Bride session

Woke up at 7am for today's session with Lauren Doss (she's the creator of Mechanical Bride). Got off the train and was greeted by a scruffy haired blocke by name of Joe. We recorded at beautiful home studio in Red Hill. The entire experience was relaxing and painless. There was no strict time schedule and the songs w managed to put string parts on are prime. Joe's a sound engineer with a hell of a lot experience behind the sound board. He's in love with his recording gadgets from the 80's. His house could honestly be a hotel or hostel if it weren't for the two pianos, harpsichord, vibraphone, and lots of recording equipment from this decade and the previous two. He cuts his own records also.

The recording process was pretty care free. Lauren made smoked salmon and pasta for lunch. I was also introduced into two other string musicians and we hit the ground running. Didn't finish all the songs we but there will be more time in the future. Lauren kicked her mom out of the session. She doesn't want anyone to hear the recording until they are finished. With that said I wont post any of the songs from the new album but I will give you a sneak peek of the string parts I helped work on.
